Gold's Gym Sr General Manager in Birmingham, Alabama


The Senior General Manager is responsible for effectively managing all facets of an assigned gym location. This includes customer service, hiring, coaching and development, driving revenues, facility cleanliness and operations. The Senior General Manager assists the District Manager and Divisional Vice President in the aspects of achieving division production targets, overseeing operations, and fitness teams. This position also manages employee performance including, but not limited to, staffing, performance management and individual and team development while maintaining a positive work environment. This position is ideal for candidates who seek career growth that includes multi-unit leadership, as a District Manager or other Regional cabinet position, and thus being open to relocation in the future is preferred.


  • Responsible for achieving all operational and financial goals at assigned gym.

  • Responsible for daily walk troughs and corrective action for assigned gym.

  • Responsible for the selection, hiring and retention of all gym level staff.

  • Coach, motivate and educate teams to become productive and successful in their roles.

  • Assists District Manager and Divisional Vice President in advising Gym Sales Managers and Gym General Managers concerning sales and advertising techniques.

  • Represents Gold’s Gym in the community and at industry association meetings to promote product.

  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume and potential sales.

  • Holds sales meetings to encourage and develop sales expertise.

  • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, onboarding and continuing development of management level associates for the Division.

  • Assists in analyzing and managing expenditures, Capital Improvements Plans, Budget and P&L Reviews

  • Assists Regional TEAM in auditing and coaching General Manager to ensure consistency in adhering to policies and procedures as needed

  • Responsible to promote and adhere the Company’s Mission/Vision/Values.


  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 4+ years of applicable gym management experience.

  • Experienced with key performance metrics; P&Ls, revenue, budgets, inventory, payroll, cost controls and facilities maintenance.

  • Strong customer service orientation with proven results

  • Strong sales focus and ability to drive revenues

  • Possess strong motivational, communication, team building and training skills.

  • Must be able to take direction, adhere to company policies, and adhere to new systems and procedures.

  • Must be proficient in oral, written, and electronic communication.

  • Must be able to relocate.
